What's new in v1.1, Part 1 - Test Configuration

v1.1 is available for download. This is the first post in the series of five, describing the new features.

Highlights: Over two-dozen new features, serious performance overhaul, and a number of bug fixes.

1.1 In the "Step Load" pattern, an option to ramp-up VUs instantly or gradually over a selected period of time. The number of seconds in the “Over” box is the initial portion of the Step period, during which VUs increase gradually. If “Over” is zero, then the increase is instant.

1.2 Browser mix. To emulate a load test with the mix of two or more browsers for different VUs, click "Add to Mix" to include every selected browser into the mix displayed in the grid. Edit the "Mix Weight" column change browser's mix. At the end of the test, the "VU Iteration details" grid displays browsers used by every VU.

1.3 Added support for Opera.

1.4 Network mix. To emulate a load test with a mix of two or more networks types for different VUs , click "Add to Mix" to include every selected network type into the mix displayed in the grid. Edit "Mix Weight" column change network type's mix. At the end of the test, the "VU Iteration details" grid network type used by every VU.

1.5 Added two new network types: T3 and Cable/DSL 768k.

1.6 Cache control emulation. When enabled, each VU is considered a return user on the second and subsequent iterations. As in the browser with primed cache, the caching rules for each request are determined based on the caching headers in the preceding server response.

Also, v1.1 is compatible with Fiddler 2.3.6.4, released on 10/09/11, while v1.0 and 1.1 beta are not fully compatible, due to some changes in fiddler API. Upgrade strongly recommended..
