version checking and update issue

For Pro version, it seems when the StresStimulus tab is clicked in Fiddler, it attempts to connect to Internet for checking version and then prompt for download/update if needed.
This is a good feature however creates difficulty for installation in environment without direct Internet access or with the proxy that filters out the file downloads.

You are correct that in Pro version when the StresStimulus tab is clicked, StresStimulus checks if updates are available. This is true for the free version as well.
An update check is performed once per Fiddler session even if StresStimulus tab is clicked multiple times.
The auto-update should not cause difficulty for environments without Internet access. Those user will just not have the auto-update notification.
As far as installations with file download filtering proxy, we expect that once users received a new version notification, they will be able to download it manually.
Please let me know if there any other difficulties that you are referring to.

that's what I had experienced:
I downloaded the latest version and installed it on. when clicked it the tab, on a computer without direct internet access, it pops up a message box saying the version is not up to date and offers 3 options:
a. download (that will fail) b. downgrade to free c. use fiddler. so the result is that can't get through to use the Pro version.
On a computer with direct internet access, the program seems to be either verify the version is latest or download and install the latest successfully.

Got it. You are correct, Tony. I was describing an auto-update verification process that is the same in Pro and the free version. What you experiencing is a onetime software activation process in the Pro version only. It is necessary to validate the license after installation. Currently it does require internet access for the duration of the license activation. We will develop an option to activate via email for users without Internet connectivity.

Yes, in corporate environment, in many cases, direct internet access is not allowed.

Wanted to let you know, that activation the StresStimulus Pro via email is implemented in v0.9, released today. For computers without Internet access the activation instruction can be requested from support@StimulusTechnology.com.
