Tests with higher volume of VUs

We are evaluating now. Would we need to add anything additional to the desktop we are using for Stresstimulus to run this higher volume of VUs?

To run a large number of VUs, you would need to use load agents: local or cloud-based as follows:
StresStimulus will create your load agents automatically. You would need to have an AWS account.
There will be some usage fee to AWS https://aws.amazon.com/ec2/pricing/on-demand/

It all depends on your particular situation.
For example, if you currently can emulate 500 VUs from your desktop, and it is at 50% of full capacity, then you should be able to increase the number VUs to 1000.
In this case, to emulate 10k VUs, you would need 10 load agents of the same capacity.
With AWS auto-provisioning you can create 10 load agents with a few mouse clicks in a matter of minutes.
