Minimum test machine spec.

What are the minimum machine specs that are able to run 250 and 500 VUs comfortably? (For example: 8 GB RAM, i7 CPU etc.).

The minimum machine configuration depends on the test you are running. Typically for a 500 VUs, a CPU with four cores and 4GB of RAM is sufficient.
To check if a test machine has adequate hardware for the number of emulated VUs, make sure that during test execution, the Health Monitor on the run-time dashboard stays green http://support.stresstimulus.com/display/doc49/Monitoring+the+Test
