Load agent technical requirements

Due to the limitation of number of workstations, we currently mimic 125 VUs per PC. What is your suggestion or tech limit about VUs per load agent?
Here is our machine (VM) config:
CPU – Xeon E5-2640 v4, 2 Virutal CPUs
RAM 3 GB

here is no definite answer how many VUs a machine can handle. Besides your machine configuration, it depends on many factors such as your test think time, number of requests, and even web server response time.
The best recommendation is a trial and error approach. Try starting with 50-75 VU per machine and increase by 25. Pay attention to the health monitor as described http://support.stresstimulus.com/display/doc49/Monitoring+the+Test
If it turns yellow or red your computer is getting overloaded.
Also, starting with version 5.0 that supports cloud testing, you can create multiple AWS-based load generators from StresStimulus with a few mouse clicks as described http://support.stresstimulus.com/display/doc50/Creating+AWS+EC2+agents
