I have a machine that I’m trying to add as a load agent, but it is failing for no apparent reason. I have another machine almost identical to it which is added and used with no issues.

It’s most likely due to a firewall that’s blocking the controller from connecting to the agent. Try opening Windows Firewall on the agent TCP listening port (default 49998) or disabling Windows Firewall all together and try connecting again.
If you changed the default port on the agent, make sure to change it on the controller as well
Another possibility is that your load agent is not running. If you are running it as a service then go to services and make sure that StresStimulus Agent Service is running. If you are running it as an application, make sure that StresStimulus is running in agent mode.
To check that the load agent is listening on a specific port and is accessible from the controller see here.
