When running a performance test of 235 users for 60 minutes (+ 15 minutes warm-up) we have now received the following issue repeatedly, a couple minutes after the warm-up time:
“The timeout period elapsed prior to completion of the operation or the server is not responding"

The error message suggests that there is a SQL server connection issue. You mentioned that your controller and agent machines use AWS RDS for result storage. Make sure both machines have a stable and fast connection to the AWS RDS server.
Also, it is suggested to disabled all firewalls as they may interfere with the connections.
If you cannot provide fast collections to SQL Server in AWS RDS, you can switch to the option with SQL CE test repository as described http://support.stresstimulus.com/display/doc52/Test+Result+Storage It is local to the controller and agent and does not require a fast network connection.
