How to measure performance of some steps but not the others

Our application has many tabs and some tabs load slower than others due to the amount of content that’s rendered. If I wanted to test the load times repeatedly going from say Tab A to Tab B to get an average.
The reason I ask is because once I navigate from Tab A to Tab B, I need to return to Tab A in order to test the load time for Tab B again. I am only interested in the load time going from Tab A to Tab B, not going back (at least not yet).
